Take our 2-day Loch Ness, Inverness and the Highlands tour from Edinburgh, travel in comfort in a small group and savour the delights of the Highlands with your guide: see rivers, lochs and mountains, and experience plenty of rich Highland history - with an overnight stay in the Highland capital of Inverness.

Day 1

From Edinburgh we head west to pick up our Glasgow passengers*, first stopping at the pretty conservation village of Luss, on the ‘Bonny Bonny Banks’ of Loch Lomond. We descend into the dramatic expanse of Rannoch Moor, passing the Black Mount, to dramatic Glencoe, site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald Clan. Here we pause for a leisurely walk to soak in the atmosphere of this haunting glen, before continuing north towards Fort William and Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.

After lunch in the Fort William area, your two day Inverness tour from Edinburgh traces the 24 mile shoreline of Loch Ness, passing Urquhart Castle, then on to Inverness, capital of the Highlands, where we arrive early evening.

Day 2

Enjoy a flexible itinerary today - you may choose to visit the fascinating Culloden Battlefield*, where Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites were defeated by the Duke of Cumberland, and glimpse the ancient stones of the Neolithic Clava Cairns.

After a lunch stop we move south for a visit to the old military garrison of Ruthven Barracks, built by General Wade. Then, there is the opportunity for a visit to Dalwhinnie Distillery, please note however that this is based on availability and may not always be possible. We continue our return journey via The Hermitage, stopping for a gentle forest walk in idyllic Scottish woodland (this option will only be possible in the summer months), before we cross the Forth Bridges, back to Edinburgh.

Overnight stay in Inverness

The price of our two day Inverness tour from Edinburgh does not include accommodation but we can reserve it for you. Approximate costs are per person per night: Youth Hostel: £25-£35, Bed & Breakfast: £55 - 75 (shared), £65 - £115 (solo), Hotel: £75+. Single supplement may apply. Please be advised, most accommodation providers only accept cash payments, and will not accept debit/credit cards as methods of payment.

To save £10 on your tour, choose to book your own accommodation!

Please note: Luggage is restricted to one piece per person.

*On tours where the coach has no pick ups from Glasgow, the route on Day 1 will travel via Stirling.

Incredible Scenery! Amazing Tour! Fantastic Driver/Guide.
“The Highlands are a must see for any first time visitor to Scotland. We are a family of 4 with 2 young adult children. We are so happy we selected the 2-day tour as there is so much to see. Timberbush Tours took the work out of deciding what sights to see and how to get to them. The itinerary was superb and we covered a-lot of ground without feeling rushed. Each stop was handpicked and the tour guide/driver offered flexibility & choices with the itinerary so we truly felt the tour was customized to our group. The small tour bus was comfortable, all the arrangements were seamless, and the amount of information & history provided throughout the tour was excellent. We felt especially fortunate to have such an incredible driver/guide > Saint Andrew was a pro: safe driver, very personable, extremely knowledgeable & willing to share his wisdom. He made all the guests feel like family and he is welcome in my home anytime he visits Canada. Seek out Timberbush Tours and ask for Andrew. We enjoyed his tour so much we rented a car and returned to see more of The Highlands. Thank you for your hospitality. A true Scottish gentleman.”

What is the difference between a Hostel, B&B and Hotel?

Hostels are budget accommodation. Many hostels have kitchen facilities where customers can prepare their own food.

B&B's are privately owned Guesthouses. Guests are given breakfast (continental or full, depending on the B&B) but cannot prepare their own food.

Hotels are the most expensive choice of accommodation. Rooms come with a full breakfast (unless stated) and guests are unable to prepare their own food.

What is the difference between ensuite, standard, twin and double rooms?

Double means one double bed which sleeps two.

Twin means two single beds, where you share a room but not a bed.

Ensuite rooms have a private bathroom/toilet/shower within the room.

Standard rooms have communal facilities that are shared with other guests.

Can I book my own accommodation?

Yes, you are free to make your own arrangements if you wish! We offer a £10 discount to those that choose to book their own accommodation!

This means that you have complete control over where you stay, and can take some time to research all of your options and pick the perfect accommodation for you and those you are travelling with!

Simply advise us at the time of booking that you will be reserving your own accommodation, and inform us at your earliest convenience of the name and address of the Guesthouse once it has been booked.

We kindly ask that your accommodation provider is located in central Inverness, otherwise your Driver-Guide will be unable to drop you off and collect you.

How much luggage can I bring?

Luggage is restricted to one medium sized suitcase per person.

For guidance: a medium sized suitcase is considered 60-69cm high and roughly 45cm in width.

If you have more luggage than this, you can store your surplus bags with Unbaggaged.

Unbaggaged will collect your bags at a time and place convenient to you! They then store them at a secure central location, and return them to you, again, wherever and whenever you like! We've negotiated 10% off all bookings for our passengers with code TIMBER10. Book here

Are the optional extras included?

No, optional extras are not included in the tour price.

This is to allow our guests the freedom to choose which attractions they would like to visit on the day.
