New for 2017: Our Outlander Experience Tour. Take a full day exploring the sets of the famous TV series: discover Linlithgow Palace, Outlander's Wentworth Prison; see Blackness Castle, the Headquarters of Black Jack, and explore Doune Castle; the home of Clan MacKenzie in our fantastic Outlander tour.
Departing from Glasgow, our Outlander tour travels north, venturing to Doune Castle*, also known as Outlander's home of the MacKenzie Clan. We stop here to visit the atmospheric castle and explore its grounds, before we journey onwards.
Our Outlander tour continues to Deanston Distillery for a short refreshment break before we journey on, passing through Stirling, for a photo stop near the Wallace Monument and Cambuskenneth Abbey. We pause here again for photos of the towering stone testimonial to the Scottish legend William Wallace, and also a glimpse of Stirling Castle.
From the Wallace Monument, we journey on to the Royal Burgh of Culross. A tiny village nestled on the coast of Fife, Culross is arguably the best example of a 17th Century village in Scotland. The gardens here feature in Claire's herb garden, and the Mercat Cross in Outlanders' Cranesmuir Village. Here we stop with plenty of time to explore the village and its cobbled streets and quaint Biscuit Café.
We then travel to the country home of Callendar House. The house, now a museum, dates back to the 14th Century and has ties to the Antonine Wall; Rome's northern frontier in Europe. Visit the famous kitchen, which was the set of the Duke of Sandringham's kitchen in Outlander and enjoy its beautiful surroundings.
From Callendar House we journey to the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, where you will have the opportunity to visit Linlithgow Palace*, Outlander's 'Wentworth Prison'. The palace was originally used as a relaxing retreat for the Royal Family on journeys between Edinburgh and Stirling Castle. Its impressive towers overlook stunning scenery.
We then leave Linlithow Palace to stop for photos at Blackness Castle; the Headquarters of Outlander's Black Jack Randall, on the shores of the Firth of Forth. This castle dates back to the 15th Century; home to the Crichton family, its mighty fortifications make this ancient castle look like a 'ship that never sailed'.
We then journey back to Glasgow, where our unique Outlander tour ends.
